I have been out full-time as a female for over a week, and people have noticed. Please keep in mind I knew I would be noticed; who can miss a 6’3” woman in a dress? The experiences I have had this past week have been mostly positive. I am still dealing with anxiety issues, such as being seen as an imposter or a fake. I still catch myself peeking around corners every once in a while, wondering who will see me. With each passing day, those occurrences are happening less frequently.
The good outweighed the bad. People at work have been overly supportive; even those I did not tell have contacted me to give their support. This morning, I purchased a fritter from the donut shop for the first time in two weeks. The lady at the window got so excited when she saw me and offered her support.
Later today, I will go out to have my nails done. My technician is in for a surprise when she sees me. I am also meeting two close friends for lunch, and today will be the first time the three of us will have lunch as “gal pals.” They know I am transgendered, but we have not had a chance to meet since I came out to the world.
Finally, I will be linking websites and books I have read about being trans. My links are in the menu bar at the page’s top. Also, I have yet to figure out how to add a link to my feature image, so I am posting it here for reference. Click here for the source.
Take Care
Alla
