Change Change Change

I have been so fortunate with my “coming out”; almost everyone has been accepting, and I have not had to deal with too much negativity. Most friends are excited for me, but I do have that one friend who is having a rough time. She keeps telling me how she keeps grieving the loss of <<Dead Name>> and that it is hard to process. I remind her that <<Dead Name>> is not gone but is now something different, more open, and happy. My friend is trying to cope with the change, and I can respect that. Some people keep telling me that it is her problem and that she needs to get over her hangup. I wish I could take that attitude, but I can’t.

When someone lives in an area where trans-gendered people are not “the norm”(I use this expression because many people don’t notice or choose not to see) and all of a sudden, they are faced with one such person they then have to process this new information, and it takes time.

I have mentioned this before; this journey is not mine alone. My friends and family must take their journey; this trip hopefully will open their minds to new and exciting ideas. I hope my friend will come around; the friendship might not be the same, and depending on how we grow, it could be something better.

I would love to hear other people’s experiences concerning coming out to friends.
